Thanks for allowing this Yank to participate on the Urmston website and thanks to Dave. With the surname of Urmston I have a special interest in the history of Urmston, England and tracing any ancestors that I might have. Just getting started, so if anyone knows of any historical resources that I can investigate I would appreciate very much hearing from you. Thanks. durmston@gmail.com

Born in 1960, attended Highfield Primary. Two kids and many years later, I so enjoy going back to Urmston. On annual leave this week and spent my first day off walking round, revisiting the once family home, and re familiarised myself with the shops still left. Brought a tear to my eye!!

It is so lovely reading all your comments and memories of Urmston Flixton and Davyhulme. I grew up on Granville Road with my sister Cathy and brothers Malc and Chris. I left to live in London in 1981 although I come home regular . I have a large family still living in Urnston and surrounding areas. The Doyle's and Starkeys. I love coming home and seeing my old school friends and reminiscing about the anticts we used to get up to. I mainly keep in touch with Helen Kemp, Julie Wilson, Alison Partington, Janet Taylor. And others. We all went to Flixton Girls School. Left in 83/84. It would be nice to catch up with others from our year. O and I love Urmston so much I'm moving back home in the next few months. Exiting or what !!!! yaaaaay

Great site, it's really nice to see a little of where my family comes from. My dad lived in Fold Farm until it was knocked down and his mum moved into 130 Davyhulme Road in its place. We used to visit a lot but I haven't been back for 15 years or more now. If anybody has any photos of Fold Farm I'd love to see them.

I have recently discovered this site and have enjoyed reading some of the topics, especially times gone by in which my family were mentioned, I lived on clifton Road along with my parents Frank and Glenda McGrail and my sister Lynne, I went to Flixton Junior school which I seem to remember having a different name then? and I do remember being taught at the church hall on brook road for a short period of time?? I remember names like Raymond and Gary Armstrong, Claire York, Sandra Whitnall, we moved to Lymm in 1971, but I returned to the area in 1985 with my then husband and lived there for 19 years my surname was Rose then.
