Due to the vast increase in e-mails that I have been receiving recently, I have decided to revise this contact page. The thing is, the majority of questions can either be answered quite easily, or I am unable to answer them at all. So before contacting me please take the time to read the following. Thanks!
Why did my post not appear on urmston.net?
Please take a look at the website standards to make sure that you haven't broken any of the rules and
Why did I not get a reply when I contacted you?
Apologies if I have not replied to your e-mail. I built urmston.net as a means to improve my web skills and I had no idea at the time that the website would be so popular, but as it is, I want to continue to update and improve it on a regular basis. Unfortunately I can only work on the site in my spare time but I do have a planned schedule of updates and will implement them as soon as I am able to. Some of the following questions can be easily answered:
-
Web-based e-mail. As a rule I will not respond to web-based e-mails such as Hotmail, Gmail etc.
-
Questions about local history. I don't know much about local history so your best bet is to post your question on the forum as we do have some very knowledgeable local historians who contribute regularly to the fourm.
-
Questions about old photographs or photographs of specific people or places. Please note that the majority of photos on the site have been kindly submitted by other readers and I don't have a stockpile of old photos. For this reason too, I am unable to give permission for anyone to use photos that have been uploaded to the site.
-
Questions about opening times, closing times. Sorry, I don't know what time a particular store opens or when the Chassen Park train runs.
-
Questions about Geneology. Once again, I'm not a local historian.
-
You are having a problem with your browser. Urmston.net is five years old now and it was designed to work solely with IE. I'm not going to start changing things now to accommodate individual browsers as I will shortly be rebuilding the site and I would prefer to spend the time doing this. The new site will be far more browser friendly and a lot of the browser specific javascript will be replaced with server-side scripts. I would appreciate it if you could struggle through for the time being unless it is really causing a problem.

The answer to your question lies on this page but you've decided to contact me without bothering to try and find it.
BEFORE CONTACTING ME PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THROUGH THE ABOVE AS INFORMATION SENT TO ME VIA THE CONTACT FORM MAY BE REJECTED AUTOMATICALLY BASED ON CERTAIN KEYWORDS.
I am not a local historian therefore any enquiries of this nature will not get a response. If you have a historical related question then the best place for it is on the forum. Contact me. |
