1st Flixton Scout Group

Oldest scout group in the area, offers scouting activities for boys and girls from 6yrs to 18yrs and beyond. We are 100 years old in 2007 any old members wishing to join our reunion please contact. Sections meet Tuesdays(Beavers), Wednesdays(cubs) and Thursdays(Scouts and Explorers).

Our Group was first founded on 6th June 1936, when Scouting was only 29 years old. We were group number 18054. We are one of the largest Groups in the North West Region and comprise of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. All of which is funded by donations and subscriptions.

Flixton Band are a locally based brass band. We compete locally and nationally as well as hosting our own concerts. We also perform at a variety of other functions including charity events. Flixton Scrapbook Club

The crops will be held at Flixton House on the 3rd Wednesday of each month with the first meeting being Wednesday 15th June 2005. Crops start at 8pm. The cost is £3.50 to cover the hire of the venue and tea/coffee & biscuits. There will be a small range of scrapbook goodies available for sale as well. All levels of scrapbooking experience are welcome from complete newbies to long standing experienced. Just come along and work on your own pages, chat to like minded scrapbookers, pick up some ideas and techniques from others and generally enjoy your hobby.

HATS Theatre Group (Amateur)

As seen by the name of the group we are all amateurs. Our ages range from 16 to 84 and we enjoy performing plays and pantomimes. We generally put on three to four productions a year and the parts are open to any one who is initerested. We recently acquired a new member through this website - one David Bramwell who has shown great talent in set design. We could do with more people with a special talent or skill or hobby that will fit in with the constant needs of production. We meet every Thursday to play read or rehearse, have a cuppa and a chat and often end up in the pub afterwards. We are a very sociable group and would welcome any new member. We are also members of the Greater Manchester Drama Federation and affiliated to Trafford Arts.

Jo Jingles

Jo Jingles provides funmusic,singing and movement classes for babies and young children. We teach the children to play percussion instruments expressively, to sing songs and hold a tune and find the rhythm to move and dance to. Most importantly children have fun and everybody joins in. Sessions are held at George H Carnall leisure Centre on a Tuesday morning. There are various classes for different ages. Places need to be booked.

Manchester Acoustic Guitar

Manchester has a new Acoustic Guitar Society meeting on the third Tuesday of the Month at Urmston Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club, Moorside Road, Urmston. We offer a Hospital radio service to the patients and staff at Trafford General Hospital and have done for many years. We are here for the local community to give us information on events happening locally, so that we can keep the patients and staff informed of what is happening locally while they are at the trust. The website gives the public and all at the trust access to presenter profiles, what is happening at RWW, and most importantly the availability to request a record or message or both for a loved one who may be resident at the trust for any reason.We are a freind at their bedside.

The Faye Starr School of Dance

The Gwyneth Hare School of dancing

Established for over 30 years, the school offers classes for all ages from Mother and Toddler Classes to Vocational training. The Principal is an Advanced member of the Royal Academy and a Fellow and Examiner of the IDTA. Training includes Ballet,Tap, Jazz,Street Dance, and Theatrecraft. Former pupils have gone on to careers in the UK and Europe in NBT, Adonais Ballet Co,Tivoli Ballet Co, European Ballet Co, Cats, Phantom, Beauty and the Beast, Starlight,Grease, Spirit of the Dance, Fire of the Dance, the QE2 and many more including TV roles. All classes taught by the Principal and qualified staff with limited numbers in each class. There is often a waiting list for younger classes but places become avaliable on a regular basis.

Trafford Community Music Group

We are a group of music lovers who meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 8.00pm in St Marys Church Hall, Entwistle Ave, Davyhulme, M41 7BU. We have an electronic organ, piano, keyboards, singers and entertain ourselves with live popular music. Trafford Millennium Volunteers

Millennium Volunteers is an organisation for young people, open to anyone aged 16-24. You can get involved in volunteering locally and at the same time gain experience, confidence and skills. This could include sports coaching, environmental issues, youth leadership, music, DJing, hospital work, dance, or whatever interests you! We also run residentials and activities in the holidays which are free of charge to MVs. How can you benefit? Those completing 100 hours and then 200 hours of voluntary activity will receive an Award of Excellence, signed by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills. Both these Awards look very impressive on your CV or UCAS form.

Urmston Cricket Club - Cricket Section

The club, which was founded in 1846, now forms part of the greater Urmston Cricket, Hockey, Bowls, Tennis and Social Club. The Cricket Section runs 3 senior (Saturday) teams, a Sunday 3rd XI team, an over 40's (Wednesday) team and a number of Junior teams in age ranges from under 9's to under 18's. We produce a large-scale musical in October and a large-scale pantomime in January, both at Urmston Leisure Centre. In May we produce a Junior show at St Antony's Catholic College. USA Twirlers

Baton twirling troupe open to girls and boys aged 7 upwards, starting Monday 21st January 2008 at George H Carnall Leisure Centre from 6:30pm-7:30pm and then practice/training to be each week same time/place thereafter. Troupe primarily trains in baton twirling, which will encorporate dance and a bit of gymnastics as well, but also in pom-pom routines. Great way for young people to get fit, work as part of a team, improve hand-eye co-ordination and have fun!
